Republican Jewish Coalition Condemns Delgado's Anti-Israel Remarks

Washington, D.C. (October 25, 2018) -- At a debate on October 22, Antonio Delgado questioned whether Israel is a democracy, saying, “Being pro-Israel and being pro-peace is critical, but I'm also pro-democracy, and as currently constructed, Israel is not a Jewish democracy. Those settlements make it so that it can't be.”

Ari Fleischer, RJC Board of Directors member, former White House press secretary, and a resident of New York who owns a home in the district (NY-19), issued the following statement:

“Antonio Delgado’s remarks are offensive and deeply troubling. Israel is America’s best friend in the Middle East and it is a thriving democracy. Delgado’s statement makes it clear that if he is elected, he will be an anti-Israel voice in the US Congress.”
