RJC Demands Democrat New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio Apologize for His Dangerous Tweet Against the Jewish Community

Washington D.C. -- Last night, New York Mayor Bill de Blasio issued a tweet targeting all of the approximately 1.1 million Jews in New York City. The tweet was apparently in response to the gathering of some 1,000 Jews (0.09% of the Jewish population) for a funeral. This comes on the heels of a dangerous uptick in anti-Semitic attacks in New York City that de Blasio failed to address. RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks issued the following statement:

Bill de Blasio’s statement encourages and foments anti-Semitism. To single out the entire Jewish community for the actions of a few is both troubling and disturbing. It wouldn’t be accepted if it were directed at any other minority group. We call on Jewish groups both political and non-political to come together and demand an apology, and more importantly, to demand better from Mayor de Blasio.
