The Senate runoff elections in Georgia are tremendously important, because a GOP majority in the Senate can act as a brake on radical, “progressive” legislation coming out of the House.
Moreover, as we’ve noted in this space before, Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler have solid records on a host of issues and strong pro-Israel bona fides. They deserve our community’s support in this election on the merits of their public service.
But for those who need more reasons to help Senators Perdue and Loeffler keep their seats in the Senate, here are some recent articles about the radical statements and positions of their Democrat challengers, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.
• Raphael Warnock’s Lifelong Education in Black Liberation Theology and Radical Politics
"Black liberation theology is the pond Warnock has been swimming in for decades. And he’s been swimming with the biggest and most influential fish in the pond."
• Warnock Praised Farrakhan's Nation of Islam as 'Important' in 2013 speech
"Georgia Democratic Senate candidate Rev. Raphael Warnock referred to the Nation of Islam as an 'important' voice for African Americans during a 2013 speech.'
• Here Are All the Times Georgia Senate Candidate Raphael Warnock Revealed His Most Radical Beliefs
"Georgia Democrat Senate runoff candidate Rev. Raphael Warnock has a radical agenda, one that he has publicly, repeatedly stated both on the campaign trail and from the pulpit in his own church, Ebenezer Baptist in Atlanta."
• Linda Sarsour, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib Join CAIR Effort to Get Georgia Muslims to the Polls
"Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) were joined by activist Linda Sarsour as featured guest speakers Sunday in a virtual 'vote-a-thon' put on by the Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Georgia Muslim Voter Project. Omar and Sarsour used the event to promote Georgia’s Democratic candidates."
• What You Need to Know about Jon Ossoff
"Ossoff is not a sensible centrist Democrat aiming to win a state that, up until very recently, had been a Republican lock. As the Democratic Party veered to the left in the Trump years, Ossoff followed."
And then there is this: Politico reports that the leftwing “progressives” in the Democratic Party have called a ceasefire in their internal struggle against the “moderates” in the party, coming together to raise money and get out the vote for Warnock and Ossoff:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) team said she has raised more than $600,000 for outside groups working to elect the [Democrats]… Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), members of the so-called Squad, are working to turn out Muslim voters in the state, including by recording a robocall… Even Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who has long had an icy relationship with Ossoff, is lending a hand.
Dems' Razor-Thin House Majority
Political scientist Norm Ornstein writes in the Washington Post about the extremely thin majority Democrats will have in the House in the new Congress and how that will make life difficult for Speaker Nancy Pelosi:
Democrats will start the next Congress with a likely majority of only four seats… The House has not had a margin this close since after the 1930 election.
For Nancy Pelosi, in a House where there is no likelihood on any significant issue of getting a single Republican vote, the California Democrat will have no leeway at all. The speaker will need the support of progressives such as Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and moderates such as Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) — and all the Democrats across that wide spectrum.
