RJC Week of Action in Georgia

What a week! RJC members turned out to help get out the vote for Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler in Georgia, and they did a fantastic job. Over the four-day week of action, more than fifty volunteers participated in person, on the ground, knocking on thousands of targeted Jewish household doors in the key suburban Atlanta counties of Fulton, Cobb, and DeKalb.

In addition, RJC volunteers in our virtual outreach program made over 50,000 targeted phone calls and sent tens of thousands of targeted early voting text messages.

A big THANK YOU goes out to all the volunteers who made this week such an outstanding success.

RJC in the News

The Jewish Journal reported on yet another anti-Israel comment from Georgia Senate candidate Raphael Warnock, and quoted the RJC

Republican Jewish Coalition Executive Director Matt Brooks argued in a statement that Warnock had compared [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu to segregationist George Wallace, who said “segregation now, segregation tomorrow and segregation forever” during his 1963 inaugural address as the then-governor of Alabama. Brooks called this apparent comparison “simple hatemongering,” pointing to the fact that Linda Sarsour agreed with Warnock’s apparent comparison of Netanyahu to Wallace.

“Warnock claims to have recently come to understand that Hamas is a violent enemy threatening Israel,” Brooks said. “There is a great deal more that he needs to learn about the Palestinians’ goal of genocide and Israel’s history of sacrificing for peace, before the Jewish community could ever begin to trust his newly announced ‘support’ of Israel. The preponderance of anti-Israel statements in his past argues that he will side with Israel’s opponents in the Democratic Party and against Israel at every opportunity.”

The Algemeiner reported on reactions to news that Israel and Morocco agreed to normalize relations – the fourth Muslim country to do so in the space of four months, thanks to the efforts of President Donald Trump and his team. They wrote

Republican Jewish Coalition national chairman and former Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN) called the announcement an “important step towards greater stability and peace in the region.”

“Morocco and Israel have agreed to reopen their liaison offices, with the intention of opening embassies later. Official contacts, economic cooperation and direct flights between the two countries will also commence,” he said in a statement. “All of these steps—and we hope to see even more to follow—will enhance the security and prosperity of both countries.”

Get the Facts on the Democrats Running for Senate in Georgia

The Senate runoff elections in Georgia are tremendously important, because a GOP majority in the Senate can act as a brake on radical, “progressive” legislation coming out of the House.

Moreover, as we’ve noted in this space before, Senators David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler have solid records on a host of issues and strong pro-Israel bona fides. They deserve our community’s support in this election on the merits of their public service.

But for those who need more reasons to help Senators Perdue and Loeffler keep their seats in the Senate, here are some recent articles about the radical statements and positions of their Democrat challengers, Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff.

Raphael Warnock’s Lifelong Education in Black Liberation Theology and Radical Politics

"Black liberation theology is the pond Warnock has been swimming in for decades. And he’s been swimming with the biggest and most influential fish in the pond."

Warnock Praised Farrakhan's Nation of Islam as 'Important' in 2013 speech

"Georgia Democratic Senate candidate Rev. Raphael Warnock referred to the Nation of Islam as an 'important' voice for African Americans during a 2013 speech.'

Here Are All the Times Georgia Senate Candidate Raphael Warnock Revealed His Most Radical Beliefs

"Georgia Democrat Senate runoff candidate Rev. Raphael Warnock has a radical agenda, one that he has publicly, repeatedly stated both on the campaign trail and from the pulpit in his own church, Ebenezer Baptist in Atlanta."

Linda Sarsour, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib Join CAIR Effort to Get Georgia Muslims to the Polls

"Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) were joined by activist Linda Sarsour as featured guest speakers Sunday in a virtual 'vote-a-thon' put on by the Georgia chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations and the Georgia Muslim Voter Project. Omar and Sarsour used the event to promote Georgia’s Democratic candidates."

What You Need to Know about Jon Ossoff

"Ossoff is not a sensible centrist Democrat aiming to win a state that, up until very recently, had been a Republican lock. As the Democratic Party veered to the left in the Trump years, Ossoff followed."

And then there is this: Politico reports that the leftwing “progressives” in the Democratic Party have called a ceasefire in their internal struggle against the “moderates” in the party, coming together to raise money and get out the vote for Warnock and Ossoff:

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) team said she has raised more than $600,000 for outside groups working to elect the [Democrats]… Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), members of the so-called Squad, are working to turn out Muslim voters in the state, including by recording a robocall… Even Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who has long had an icy relationship with Ossoff, is lending a hand.

Dems' Razor-Thin House Majority

Political scientist Norm Ornstein writes in the Washington Post about the extremely thin majority Democrats will have in the House in the new Congress and how that will make life difficult for Speaker Nancy Pelosi:

Democrats will start the next Congress with a likely majority of only four seats… The House has not had a margin this close since after the 1930 election.

For Nancy Pelosi, in a House where there is no likelihood on any significant issue of getting a single Republican vote, the California Democrat will have no leeway at all. The speaker will need the support of progressives such as Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and moderates such as Rep. Abigail Spanberger (D-VA) — and all the Democrats across that wide spectrum.

Revealed: A young Senator Biden delivered Egyptian disinformation to Israel ahead of Yom Kippur War

"In the summer of 1973, the junior senator from Delaware Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. visited Egypt and met with local officials – not the first tier ones: the highest-ranking among them were the country’s Minister of Propaganda, alongside Hassanein Heikal, editor of the semi-official daily Al-Ahram. Following his Cairo visit, Biden, who had just been elected the previous year, met in Israel with then Prime Minister Golda Meir and passed on the Egyptian disinformation. Biden told the Israeli prime minister that of all the Egyptian VIPs he had met, not one denied Israel’s absolute military superiority, and they all reassured him that it would be impossible for Egypt to go to war against Israel now. We all know how that turned out."

Trump’s peace deals mean the anti-Israel boycott movement is dead

Sohrab Ahmari writes that the Abraham Accords “will utterly delegitimize those in the West who seek to delegitimize Israel, not least the movement to boycott, divest from and sanction the Jewish state… Who exactly do Western champions of the Arabs represent, when the Arabs themselves want to live peacefully alongside Israel and accept the Jewish state’s fundamental legitimacy?”
