RJC Tells JDCA Lawyers: We Will Not Be Silenced

The Republican Jewish Coalition received a letter on July 22, 2021 from the lawyers for the Jewish Democratic Council of America, demanding that the RJC delete a tweet (shown above) asking why the JDCA remained silent in the face of Rep. Ilhan Omar’s repeated use of antisemitic rhetoric.

The RJC’s response to that letter was simple: “We will not be silenced, canceled, or intimidated.”

Read about RJC’s long record of standing up to antisemitism and see our legal counsel’s response to JDCA’s threatening letter here.

Matthew Foldi at the Washington Free Beacon reports on the JDCA-RJC exchange:

The JDCA's defense is an example of how Democrats are grappling with far-left members of their party, including Omar, who have grown increasingly hostile towards Israel. While the council condemned Omar over two years ago, its letter fails to include any other instances of criticisms of Omar, who has engaged in antisemitic rhetoric in several instances.

…"Rather than cite a litany of times the JDCA spoke out against antisemitism from Ilhan Omar and other leading Democrats, they only point to one time over 2.5 years ago," [RJC Executive Director Matt] Brooks told the Washington Free Beacon. "It's disappointing that the Jewish Dems would repeatedly choose silence over action. It's time to put the fight against antisemitism ahead of partisan politics."

How anti-Zionism and antisemitism intersect

William C. Daroff writes: “In the past few years, the indicators of a fundamental shift in the line between anti-Zionism and antisemitism have been flashing with greater frequency and intensity. Incidents during protests against police violence, statements by the leaders of the Women’s March and progressive politicians and activists, and the targeting of Jewish students across college campuses have highlighted how explicitly anti-Zionist spaces foment antisemitism.”

Seven House Democrats target nonprofit status of several Israel-related charities

Jewish Insider reports: “A group of seven left-wing House Democrats critical of Israel are urging the Treasury Department to review, and possibly revoke, the tax-exempt nonprofit status of several U.S.-based pro-Israel groups due to their links to Israeli groups supporting settlements.”

Threatening Iran is meaningless with sanction relief in play – analysis

Lahav Harkov gets it: “For Iran to ‘face up to the consequences of what they’ve done’ ... in an effective way, those imposing the repercussions cannot continue to talk out of both sides of their mouths. The mixed messages of talking tough while offering sanctions relief allow Iran to continue its malign behavior and rush to a nuclear weapon with impunity.”

The perils of fielding demands instead of conducting diplomacy

Shoshana Bryen points out that the Biden administration’s rush to make concessions to Iran has given other entities, including the Palestinians and communist China, the idea that they too can make demands on Washington. “Fielding demands” is different from “conducting diplomacy.”

Biden admits he is proudly and deliberately breaking the law

Kaylee McGhee White is angry: “Despite the Supreme Court’s explicit warning that any executive extension of the federal eviction moratorium would be struck down, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention decided this week to implement a new moratorium anyway for two months. When asked about the legal obstacles this policy would inevitably run into, President Joe Biden admitted that what his administration is doing is illegal, but he said he doesn’t care… In other words, Biden knows that the CDC is acting illegally but wants the agency to continue to act illegally until the courts can get around to stopping it.”
