The Kosher Cattle Call is Almost Here!
|
The RJC Leadership Meeting in Las Vegas is already making news, with Fox News calling the incredible line-up of speakers “the first major Republican cattle call of the 2024 presidential race.” Paul Steinhauser reports at Fox News:
|
A dozen Republican politicians, who pundits view as potential or likely contenders for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, will attend the Republican Jewish Coalition’s (RJC) annual leadership meeting next month in Las Vegas.
With the starting gun in the next White House race firing immediately after the Nov. 8 midterm elections, the RJC’s confab will be the first major cattle call of possible Republican presidential contenders.
… The 12 leaders who are considered potential or likely White House hopefuls speaking at the confab are former Vice President Mike Pence; former Secretary of State and former CIA Director Mike Pompeo; former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who served as ambassador to the United Nations; Sens. Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Ted Cruz of Texas, Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, Rick Scott of Florida and Tim Scott of South Carolina; Govs. Ron DeSantis of Florida, Larry Hogan of Maryland and Chris Sununu of New Hampshire; and former Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey.
Also addressing the conference will be House GOP Leader Kevin McCarthy of California, Rep. David Kustoff of Tennessee, who along with Rep. Lee Zeldin of New York are the only Jewish Republican members of Congress, and veteran Republican strategist and pollster Kellyanne Conway, who served as a top political adviser to former President [Donald] Trump.
"We are incredibly excited to once again be welcoming key GOP leaders to the RJC Annual Leadership Meeting in Las Vegas this November. Republican Jews from across the country will be celebrating big 2022 victories, and ringing in the first ‘kosher’ 2024 cattle call of the Presidential election cycle," RJC national political director Sam Markstein told Fox News in a statement.
The RJC’s annual leadership meeting draws top Republican leaders, officials, donors and activists from across the country.

Republican Senate candidate in Nevada, Adam Laxalt, speaking at the RJC event in September.
|
Nevada's Jewish Community Could Determine Who Controls the US Congress
|
Ben Samuels at Haaretz writes:
|
Jewish Republicans and Democrats have both identified Nevada as particularly crucial in deciding which party controls Congress next session, and its nearly 80,000 Jewish voters could determine the outcome in a state where President Joe Biden barely won in 2020.
Adam Laxalt, the Trump-endorsed former attorney general who was a favorite of late Nevada native and Republican megadonor Sheldon Adelson, is running neck-and-neck with incumbent Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto in what may be the GOP’s best opportunity to flip a blue seat in the Senate.
… The Republican Jewish Coalition, which was deeply involved in Adelson’s fundraising efforts, has backed the Iraq War veteran and former naval officer, citing Laxalt’s “distinguished record of service in military and public life.” It also notes his background as a fourth-generation Nevadan born in Reno.
RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks says Cortez Masto, who also served as the state’s attorney general, is “weak on crime, refuses to enforce the law at the border, and has failed miserably on lowering inflation and the skyrocketing costs of living – from the gas station to the grocery store – for Nevada families.”
Brooks also cites her support of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal and backing from J Street.
… “With three weeks to go, we are executing a significantly ramped-up Jewish direct voter contact campaign in Nevada with our RJC Victory Team – coordinating tens of thousands of phone calls, door knocks and text messages – using the most highly targeted and sophisticated data operation in Jewish politics, which was incredibly effective in 2020, and has only gotten more advanced since,” says RJC National Political Director Sam Markstein of the organization’s efforts.
“We are incredibly bullish on Adam Laxalt flipping this seat,” he adds.

Left to right: Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) is being challenged by Democrat extremist Mandela Barnes.
|
WI Democrat Barnes Praises Khamenei
|
Alana Goodman reports on past social media posts by the Democrat who’s trying to unseat Republican Senator Ron Johnson in Wisconsin:
|
Mandela Barnes, the Democratic Senate candidate in Wisconsin, praised Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei for supporting Black Lives Matter, said he wanted to be the "Dennis Rodman" of the Assad regime, and used his Twitter account to defend some of the world’s most notorious dictators and repressive regimes.
On Jan. 1, 2015, Barnes applauded a Twitter post by Khamenei that slammed the U.S. government over slavery.
"The issue of US govt oppression against blacks is a 100s year-old issue," wrote Khamenei, adding the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.
Barnes "liked" Khamenei’s post on Twitter and responded to the Iranian leader: "The first tweet of 2015 from @khamenei_ir is #BlackLivesMatter. Let that sink in. May This be a most wonderful year for you and yours."
…Barnes’s social media posts could raise questions about the candidate’s willingness to align himself with anti-American and undemocratic leaders. The news comes as Barnes, the Wisconsin lieutenant governor and former state legislator, has faced criticism over his repeated appearances on RT, a Russian state-run news network that the US State Department has described as "propaganda support for the Kremlin's foreign policy objectives."
…"Not only has Moscow Mandela Barnes gone on Russian propaganda TV six times to denigrate American law enforcement, but he has also cozied up to awful dictators and communist groups around the world," said Johnson spokesman Mike Marinella. "His extreme positions are wrong for Wisconsin and would make our state less prosperous and less free."

Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, Dr. Mehmet Oz, with former US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman at the RJC's pro-Israel community event in Philadelphia in August.
|
Mehmet Oz: This is Why I Want Pennsylvania’s Vote in the Midterm Election
|
Dr. Mehmet Oz makes his case in an op-ed at Fox News:
|
…Over the past two years - under the Joe Biden and John Fetterman agenda, violent crime has surged in our communities. Just last year, Philadelphia broke its all-time homicide record with 562 deaths, and is maintaining that pace so far this year with more than 400 homicides and over 1,000 carjackings for the first time ever… Over the last two years, the cost of living in Pennsylvania has skyrocketed, gas prices have gone through the roof, and simple necessities like baby formula have become harder to get than fentanyl in our cities.
… In the US Senate, I will fight to lower inflation and cut taxes. I will work to make Pennsylvania a leader in energy production, decrease healthcare costs while improving outcomes, and provide better schools with more choice. I will give power back to you, because you are the best person so make decisions about your family and home.
…Together, we will turn the lights back on in America.

Biden Iran Deal Plan Meets Reality; Time to Support the People of Iran
|
The editors of the Washington Free Beacon write:
|
The late, great Irving Kristol once quipped that a neoconservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality. It looks like President Joe Biden and the normalization crowd just ran into the Ayatollah in a dark alley and had to empty their pockets.
How else to explain the recent change in tone from the administration and its allies? White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Monday, "The door for diplomacy will always remain open, but as of now we don’t see a deal coming together anytime soon." Those remarks followed Iran envoy Robert Malley’s indication that a return to the 2015 nuclear deal is not on the agenda right now.
Shocker. Biden and the Europeans have pretended for nearly two years that this gang of terrorists could be brought to heel through diplomacy. Backed by the scientific consensus of elite liberal opinion, the policy heavyweights in the Biden administration were certain that the same regime that murders teenage girls in Tehran was capable of hashing out a deal in Vienna on uranium enrichment levels—and keeping its word.
|
Iran is brutally repressing the popular protests that started last month, supplying Russia with weapons to use against Ukraine, and still funding and supporting terrorists in the Middle East. Now it’s time for the Biden administration to bring back the maximum pressure policy of the previous administration, implement strong sanctions that will stop the flow of money to the Tehran government, and support the people of Iran.

The distinct scent of Democratic panic in the air
Jim Geraghty at National Review Online notes that Democrats may have good reason to panic: “This morning, Politico unveiled new national polling numbers that are just about what the Republicans wanted to see, and they largely align with the numbers in the New York Times survey that came out last weekend. The economy and inflation are, by far, the biggest issues on voters’ minds, with 80 percent saying they’ll play a major role in their vote choice. Crime was the second-most important issue on voters’ minds at 64 percent, and abortion was at 59 percent. Voters trust Republicans more on the economy, and more than 60 percent of respondents said inflation was getting worse.”

Palestinian government still pays terrorists as US aid dollars flow
Adam Kredo reports on a non-public State Department report recently sent to Congress, which documents the ongoing payments the Palestinian Authority is making to imprisoned terrorists and it’s continued incitement of violence against Israel. President Joe Biden renewed funding to the Palestinian Authority immediately after taking office, despite the Taylor Force Act of 2018, which banned the State Department from giving aid to the PA until it could certify that payments to terrorists and incitement against Israel had stopped.
