RJC Releases "Momentum" Video

The Republican Jewish Coalition has released a new video, entitled "Momentum," that highlights the important work of the Republican Jewish Coalition in this critical year.

RJC CEO Matt Brooks said:

Today, when Israel is at war and antisemitism is on the rise here at home, the American Jewish community is looking for political leaders who do more than talk; they act on the issues that matter most to our community. The RJC is uniquely positioned to provide a platform for Republican leaders and candidates to speak with American Jews, to present their positions, and to brief us on their efforts and their achievements on those key issues.

In the past, we have had the honor of hosting President Donald Trump, Speaker Mike Johnson, and many, many Republican Governors, Senators, and Congressmen at RJC events. In less than two weeks, we will welcome Jewish Republicans from around the country to hear from an outstanding group of leading GOP voices at our Leadership Summit in Las Vegas.

In this election year, the stakes for the US and for Israel have never been higher. America needs President Trump and Republicans in Congress to bring our country back from the brink and restore our security, our prosperity, and our leading role in the world. The RJC is speaking out on the issues, raising money for pro-Israel candidates, and organizing targeted Jewish voter outreach in key battleground states.

With the support of our members and friends, the RJC will have a greater impact in this crucial election year than ever before.

RJC Challenges DNC Speakers to Praise Israel

The RJC challenged speakers at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week to praise Israel from the podium and invite the convention delegates to cheer for Israel.

JNS reported:

The Republican Jewish Coalition has announced a new initiative during the Democratic National Convention in Chicago to monitor speakers and see who, if any, advocate for the Jewish state.

"Last week, the RJC officially challenged every speaker at the Democratic Convention in Chicago to 'Praise Israel,'" the group wrote on X on Sunday. "If any speaker from the main stage asks the crowd to cheer if they support Israel, the RJC will donate to plant 1,800 trees in Israel in their name to showcase their standing with the Jewish state."

RJC further said on Monday that it would launch "Praise Israel Watch" to count the number of individuals who publicly praise the Jewish state and publish a tally at the end of each day.

The goal, it noted, is that "speakers in Chicago will take us up on our challenge, and follow the RJC and Republican Party's lead in standing shoulder to shoulder with Israel at this critical time for the Jewish state and the American Jewish community."

So far, no speaker at the Democratic National Convention has asked the crowd there to cheer Israel. In fact, while top Democrats in the country have addressed the DNC, including President Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama, former President Bill Clinton, Sen. Bernie Sanders, former Speaker Nancy Pelosi and vice-presidential candidate Governor Tim Walz, not one of them has said the word "Israel" at all.

We'll see this evening whether Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris has anything to say about America's closest ally in the Middle East.

Algemeiner: Biden Says Anti-Israel Protesters ‘Have a Point’ in Democratic National Convention Speech

US President Joe Biden stressed the necessity of a ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas and suggested protesters against the Jewish state "have a point" during his speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC) on Monday night.

… "Pro-Hamas radicals tore through a fence around the DNC secure perimeter and assaulted law enforcement. But Joe Biden thinks they ‘'have a point’ and Kamala Harris continues to appease them. A total disgrace,” the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) posted on social media.

RJC Slams Kamala Harris’s Running Mate, Tim Walz, in Advance of DNC Convention Speech

RJC CEO Matt Brooks said:

If the American people wanted to know how Kamala Harris would govern if elected, they only need to look at her first major decision as the Democrats’ nominee for President, when she selected the most radical vice presidential nominee in US history - failed leftist Tim Walz - as her running mate.

Make no mistake: the Harris-Walz ticket would be a total disaster for America, the Jewish community, and the US-Israel alliance.

RJC Exposes the Real Kamala Harris

RJC CEO Matt Brooks said:

Tonight, Kamala Harris will attempt to rewrite history to conceal her failures. The RJC will hold her accountable.

Under the Biden-Harris administration, antisemitism has skyrocketed to record highs in America. 42% of American Jews have reported feeling unsafe wearing religious symbols in public, and 73% of Jewish students have reported experiencing or witnessing antisemitism on college campuses. The American Jewish community is far less safe today after nearly four years of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Kamala Harris continues to appease the radical pro-Hamas base of the Democratic Party, expressing sympathy and support for antisemitic protestors, while accepting endorsements from vicious antisemites like Representative Ilhan Omar and other “Squad” members.

...Let there be no doubt: the US-Israel relationship will continue to be undermined and our collective security threatened with Kamala Harris in charge.

My Fellow American Jews: Kamala Harris's Democratic Party Is No Party for Us

Lee Zeldin, the Republican Jewish former Congressman from NY-1, writes at Newsweek:

The Democrat Party's failure to address the rising tide of antisemitism within its ranks has reached a dangerous tipping point, and Vice President and Democratic Presidential Nominee Kamala Harris' actions are emboldening those who hate Jews.

…Millions of American Jews do not feel safe under the current administration. This November, many of us understand that our safety and security will come from the power of our vote.

As the threat of a wider regional conflict looms in the Middle East, Americans longingly look back to just four years ago when we had a president ending wars, not starting new ones. President Donald Trump moved the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, signed the Taylor Force Act to stop US taxpayer aid from getting funneled to Hamas, and formally recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.

America had a president who signed an executive order combating antisemitism on college campuses, left Iran crippled under a maximum pressure campaign, and launched the Abraham Accords—a feat no one thought was possible.

As Jewish Americans face increasing threats both at home and abroad, it's clear that the current administration is unwilling or unable to provide the protection we need. This November, we must vote to restore safety, strengthen the US-Israel alliance, and put America First by electing leaders who truly stand with us, like Donald Trump and JD Vance.

For a comparison of the way the Biden administration and the Trump administration have responded to antisemitism in America, see this video.

The Democratic Party's Project 2025

The editorial board of the Wall Street Journal examines the Democratic Party platform that was adopted at the convention this week, noting that Kamala Harris has no policy plan of her own and will likely follow, rather than lead, her party. The editors write (paywall):

The 92-page document is filled with political rhetoric and exaggerations that present Mr. [Joe] Biden as a working-class hero and Donald Trump as a richy-rich villain. But the platform is also a peek into an economic worldview in which the government is the answer, almost no matter the question.

…Here are only some of the promises:

• "Health care should be a right in America, not a privilege," the platform says. "We'll never quit fighting to protect and expand the Affordable Care Act."

• "We support Medicaid expansion, encouraging states to provide health coverage to low-income Americans on the federal government's tab."

• "We'll look to expand traditional Medicare coverage to include dental, vision, and hearing services."

• "Democrats will provide free, universal preschool for four-year olds."

• They will "guarantee affordable, quality child care to millions of working families for less than $10-a-day per child."

• They'll pass "America's first, full, national paid family and medical leave program."

• "We'll work to finally raise the federal minimum wage to at least $15-an-hour."

• "We'll keep pushing to restore the expanded Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit."

• "We'll work to pass the Public Service Freedom to Negotiate Act, guaranteeing public sector bargaining rights."

• "We'll double funding to repair and expand active transportation and public transit."

• "We'll no longer permit companies to deduct the cost of paying executives more than $1 million a year."

There's plenty else in the platform, including turning Washington into the 51st state, codifying national abortion protections, spending more on "environmental justice" and climate change, and passing a series of enormous tax increases on Americans and businesses that probably still couldn't begin to pay for all of these promises and many more.

Stand with Israel Act Introduced in the House

This week, Reps. Mike Lawler (R-NY-17) and Jared Moskowitz (D-FL-23) announced the introduction the Stand with Israel Act. Lawler's office says this act, "will require the withholding of US funding to UN agencies that expel, downgrade, suspend, or otherwise restrict the participation of the State of Israel. The bill is modeled after the current prohibition of funding to any UN entities that elevate the status of the Palestinian Authority to a member state."

This bill has wide support in the Jewish and pro-Israel communities.

RJC CEO Matt Brooks and RJC National Chairman Senator Norm Coleman said of the bill:

Congressman Lawler and the members of both parties who have cosponsored this bill understand what the Biden-Harris administration does not – that standing with Israel means standing up to anti-Israel UN bureaucrats who are working overtime to isolate and punish the Jewish state. By passing the Stand with Israel Act, Congress will send a clear message to the UN: American taxpayers won’t tolerate your antisemitic vendetta.

Short Takes

Goldstein-Almog: I was a captive of Hamas. After I was freed, I was imprisoned by online trolls

[On October 7,] Hamas terrorists charged into our home, shooting my father, Nadav, and sister, Yam, in a furious ecstasy of hate. I [Agam] was dragged out of the house together with my mother and two younger brothers and forced into a car to Gaza.

… Shortly before my family and I were released at the end of November, a guard made a point of telling us that, in the next war, Hamas would return to kill us. There would be no hostage-taking, no more dealmaking… [T]he world I came back to was deeply divided and seething with anger. The hatred that I thought I had left behind in Gaza was waiting for me online.

…I have watched as the movement in the West for a Gaza cease-fire sometimes devolves into full-throated support for Hamas and the hounding of Jews in public spaces. I'm sure my kidnappers still hate me, but when American students call for "intifada" or chant in praise of Hamas terrorists "Al-Qassam, you make us proud," I'm reminded that many other people do, too.

Free Beacon: Walz Praised Chinese Communism as a System Where 'Everyone Shares'

As a high school teacher in the 1990s, Democratic vice-presidential candidate and Minnesota governor Tim Walz appeared to extol life under Chinese communism, telling his students that it is a system in which "everyone shares" and gets free food and housing.

Michael Sobolik, a China expert and the author of Countering China's Great Game, said Walz's comments to students were a "shockingly naïve description of the Chinese Communist Party's rule."

"American students need to learn the horrific truths of communism and the horrors this dangerous ideology has wrought over the past century," said Sobolik. "Gov. Walz should clarify his comments and share his impression of communism in 2024."

Walz's rosy description of communism in China is similar to his recent controversial remark that "one person's socialism is another person's neighborliness." It also reflects his longstanding ties to the country.

Watch: JD Vance Speaks About Israel at Penn. Campaign Event

At a campaign rally in Philadelphia this week, GOP vice-presidential candidate JD Vance responded to a question about his position on Israel. He told the crowd:

"Well, our position is pretty simple. It's that the best thing for Israel and the best thing for the United States is for this war to be over as quickly as possible and for Hamas to be destroyed in the process. What I don't understand is you have Kamala Harris, who says she's really concerned about civilian casualties. Well, I'm very concerned about civilian casualties too, but if you're concerned about civilian casualties, you want the war to be over as quickly as possible and you want to destroy Hamas' ability to fight. She's pursuing policies that are doing exactly the opposite, prolonging the war as long as possible and not allowing Israel to finish the job against Hamas. It's the worst of all possible worlds. Donald Trump is going to return strength to the American foreign policy scene."
