RJC Leadership Summit Gets Massive Media Coverage

The 2024 RJC Leadership Summit received wall-to-wall coverage from the national and international media. Over 100 members of the press were there, including Fox News, AP, Haaretz, Jerusalem Post, Times of Israel, JNS, NBC, CBS, New York Post, Newsmax, Reuters, and The Epoch Times. For the first time, FoxNation livestreamed the entire event.

You can watch the videos of all the speakers at the RJC Leadership Summit on the RJC YouTube channel.

In addition to the remarks from President Donald Trump and leading GOP elected officials, don't miss Steven Mizel and Courtney Mizel presenting the Steven M. Mizel Foundation Defender of Israel Award to three Israeli heroes: Menahem Kalmanson (in memory of Elhanan Kalmanson), Itamar Harlap, and Kobi Shabtai; and the moving remarks of Ronen and Orna Neutra, the parents of Israeli-American hostage Omer Neutra.

Here are some highlights from the extensive media coverage the Summit received:

RJC in the News

Politico got the scoop on the RJC's $10 million ad campaign that launched during the presidential candidate debate this week.

SCOOP: The Republican Jewish Coalition is launching a $10 million ad campaign to support DONALD TRUMP, in what it calls the largest ad buy in the history of the Jewish community. Part of a $15 million effort this cycle, the ad aims to convince Jewish voters in Pennsylvania, Nevada, Michigan, Arizona and Georgia that VP Kamala Harris is "no ordinary Democrat," saying she stands with the "Squad" and sympathizes with antisemitic protesters. It’ll start running during the debate. Watch the ad here.

Forward: Millions of dollars, hundreds of volunteers: How groups are mobilizing Jewish voters in swing states

With just 55 days until the presidential election and early voting set to begin in Pennsylvania later this month, Jewish groups are ramping up their get-out-the-vote efforts in the tightly contested swing states where Jewish voters could play a crucial role.

Sam Markstein, a spokesperson for the RJC, said that in recent months, the organization has primarily relied on volunteers in key swing states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, and Pennsylvania, armed with sophisticated data modeling to engage persuadable voters in support of former President Donald Trump. These efforts are supplemented by a $15 million budget for TV and digital advertising. "This is the most comprehensive and aggressive effort from any Jewish group to turn out Jewish voters for their candidate," Markstein said.

…The RJC, aiming to grow Trump’s share of the Jewish vote, are tapping into the emotional attachment to Israel and unease among voters over antisemitism on campus. In a $10 million ad blitz, launched on Tuesday, the RJC portrayed Harris as more in step with the far left than with President Joe Biden on Israel.

The RJC’s Markstein said the ad "crystallizes the key thrust of the messaging" for persuadable voters. "This is a problem that is really personal and really visceral," he said. "And so when we highlight that Kamala Harris aligns with the Squad on these different topics, it certainly moves them."

Jerusalem Post: 'Starkest contrast between candidates': Jewish groups, politicians react to presidential debate

[T]he Republican Jewish Coalition slammed Harris's debate performance.

"Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have undermined the US-Israel relationship to unprecedented lows. Forcing a two-state solution on Israel now - after October 7 - would be a reward for the terrorists," RJC posted from its official X account. "She would be a total disaster as Commander in Chief."

RJC also commented on Harris's absence from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's speech to Congress to attend a sorority luncheon.

"A total disgrace," RJC said.

Washington Examiner: Rashida Tlaib targets Facebook ads to Qatari-funded outlet fans, data show

[Rep. Rashida] Tlaib’s campaign has spent over $81,000 on ads in the last 90 days, largely to draw attention to her anti-Israel positions and fundraise for her fellow progressive Squad members in the House, according to data from Facebook’s ad database.

…It’s no surprise Tlaib targets readers of Al Jazeera, according to Republican Jewish Coalition spokesman Sam Markstein, who said Tlaib is "hell-bent" on opposing Israel. Al Jazeera was banned in Israel this year over national security concerns and frequently promotes pro-Hamas propaganda. The website is funded by Qatar, a gas-rich country that has poured hundreds of millions of dollars into the Hamas-run Gaza Strip since 2007.

"It would be out of character for Tlaib not to," Markstein told the Washington Examiner.

Tlaib’s ad targeting is a window into the types of supporters she seeks to court as the Democrat accuses Israel of genocide and apartheid for retaliating against Hamas over its Oct. 7 attack last year. Tlaib has notably been part of a secret Facebook group whose users have expressed support for Hamas after Oct. 7 — which saw 1,200 Israelis murdered in the Jewish state. Tlaib also co-founded an anti-Israel group called Black for Palestine that pledged "solidarity" in 2016 with Palestinian terrorists, the Washington Examiner reported.

Jewish Insider: McCormick holds fundraiser with top GOP Jewish leaders

Pennsylvania Senate candidate Dave McCormick, one of the leading GOP recruits, headlined a packed fundraiser with author and podcaster Dan Senor, Republican Jewish Coalition CEO Matt Brooks and former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer on Monday.

…"A lot of Jewish voters that I encounter are wrestling with their political allegiances, wrestling with what they’re seeing play out from their television, wrestling with how to think about their strong support for Israel and their dismay at the antisemitism," McCormick told JI in an interview last month. "This election really is forcing a lot of soul-searching, and I’m hoping to be able to win their confidence as someone who’s a strong voice on these issues and will be a strong voice as their senator."

Short Takes

Mandel: Biden-Harris give up the big Gaza lie

To be clear: the administration has been (mostly) blaming Israel for the failure of a deal that they now acknowledge never fully materialized. Further, while Biden & Co. know there are versions of the deal that Israel would accept, they have yet to be convinced Hamas has any interest in any version.

…There’s no reason to sugarcoat it. [Joe] Biden and [Kamala] Harris have been egging on the societal divides in Israel and undermining its political stability on false pretenses.

Haaretz: 'A historic moment for us': Palestinians take unprecedented seat at UN General Assembly

Palestinians took a seat among member states for the first time at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, exercising a new right accorded to the delegation despite not being a full member of the organization. A new delegation was present as the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations commenced in New York.

…Previously, Palestine held "non-member observer state" status, which it received in 2012. May's General Assembly resolution did not give the Palestinians full UN membership but recognized them as eligible to join. As per the resolution, Palestinians can now introduce proposals and amendments and sit among the member states but remain unable to cast a vote or join the Security Council.

Goldberg: 10 things Washington should do to hold Hamas accountable

US citizen Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, was executed by Hamas in late August after being taken hostage from an Israeli music festival and held in Gaza for more than 300 days. In response, a bipartisan roster of US officials immediately pledged to hold Hamas accountable… Washington policymakers should make good on these promises in the following ways…

Tratt: What Trump gets right about anti-Jewish bias

[Donald] Trump’s official record and robust promise to arrest and deport, where appropriate, pro-Hamas radicals offer a striking distinction to the positions set forth by [Kamala] Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
