RJC Roadshow Kicks Off in PA and GA

The Republican Jewish Coalition hosted townhall events in Pennsylvania and Georgia this week to showcase leading GOP personalities and discuss the critical issues facing the US and Israel in 2024. These were the first of a series of events the RJC will hold in battleground states before Election Day to get our message out to the wider Jewish and pro-Israel community.

In Pennsylvania on Sunday, hundreds of people joined RJC CEO Matt Brooks and Senate candidate Dave McCormick for a conversation that began with the topic of Israel. McComick spoke about Israel's fight against what he called "the pure evil" of Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, and the Houthis, proxies for the radical Islamist regime in Iran. McCormick, who visited Israel shortly after the October 7 Hamas attack last year, saw first hand the cruelty and devastation that Hamas brought into southern Israel. McCormick also talked about antisemitism in America and the shocking degree to which some university officials and politicians are willing to capitulate to the most extreme, antisemitic forces in the Democratic Party.

The conversation included the issues of abortion, immigration, and energy, all very salient issues for Pennsylvania and other battleground states this year.

You can see the event video here.

Dave McCormick is challenging a left-wing Democratic incumbent and needs your help to win a seat in the Senate. Click here to support Dave McCormick for Senate.

In Atlanta on Monday, RJC National Chairman Senator Norm Coleman hosted a conversation with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp and US Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC).

The event began with remarks from all three speakers about the catastrophic effects of Hurricane Helene in Georgia and the Carolinas and an acknowledgement of the upcoming the first anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7. Chairman Coleman asked for a moment of silent prayer to remember those who lost their lives that day and for the people still held hostage by Hamas in Gaza.

Governor Kemp talked about the civil unrest his state saw in 2020 and said that Georgians would not tolerate anarchy in their state. Georgia has also taken a firm stand for the First Amendment and against the disruption and discrimination that the anti-Israel and antisemitic protesters attempted to bring to college campuses in the state.

Senator Graham said that since the Abraham Accords were signed, there have been real changes in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia is modernizing, while regional business and cooperation with Israel are growing. Iran fears and hates the prospects for peace in the region. We have a responsibility to stand with Israel in their fight for the existence of the Jewish people in their own land.

Gov. Kemp and Sen. Graham have been leading voices in the fight against antisemitism and in strengthening economic ties and strategic cooperation between the US and Israel.

Lee Zeldin: GOP and the Jewish Vote

Former NY Congressman Lee Zeldin, a proud Jewish Republican who serves on the RJC Board of Directors, was the featured speaker recently at Temple Emanu-El Streicker Cultural Center in New York. In that event, co-hosted by the RJC and moderated by RJC Board of Directors member Brad Rose, Rep. Zeldin presented an honest, thoughtful perspective on the issues that concern our community to an audience that was not 100% friendly to the GOP. It was a stellar performance that touched on foreign policy, Israel, antisemitism, as well as the importance of the Jewish vote in this election and how that plays out in different parts of the country.

Jewish Insider: Graphic RJC ad blames Harris for Oct. 7 attack on Israel

A graphic advertisement by the Republican Jewish Coalition set to begin running on television and online in swing states on Wednesday accuses Vice President Kamala Harris of helping to enable the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel.

The ad opens with footage and images from the Oct. 7 attack — a Hamas fighter firing a weapon into a car, a children’s room covered in smeared blood, a Hamas fighter standing atop an Israeli tank and images of burned out cars.

“Where did it all start? Follow the money,” the ad’s narrator intones. “The attacks on Israel started with Iran.”

The ad goes on to accuse Harris and other politicians of enabling the attack by supporting the Iran nuclear deal, lifting sanctions on Iran and allowing money into Iran as part of the nuclear deal.

“Harris was weak, Israel paid the price,” the ad concludes.

The advertisement is part of the RJC’s $15 million anti-Harris, pro-Trump ad campaign targeting Jewish voters in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada.

The ad is set to begin running less than 24 hours after a large-scale Iranian missile attack on Israel. SEE THE AD HERE.

Delaware Valley Journal: McCormick to PA Jewish Org: Lack of Courage Kept Harris From Picking Shapiro for VP

Republican Senate candidate Dave McCormick promised to support Israel and fight against rising antisemitism during a town hall with a Jewish group on Sunday, drawing contrasts with incumbent Democratic Sen. Bob Casey Jr.

And he called out Vice President Kamala Harris for a failure of courage in passing over Gov. Josh Shapiro for her running mate, calling it a “tragedy” the Democratic presidential nominee would cave to anti-Israel sentiment in her party.

...And while President Joe Biden has been reluctant to praise Israel’s recent military actions against Hezbollah and has called for a ceasefire that would benefit the terrorist organization, McCormick — a West Point graduate who served in the 82nd Airborne in Iraq during the Gulf War and was awarded a Bronze Star — had nothing but praise.

“What’s happened in the last couple of weeks has been a brilliant military operation. Make no mistake: What’s happening with Israel is an array of forces underwritten by Iran that is a fight for the very future of Israel’s existence.”

Dave McCormick and other terrific RJC-endorsed Senate candidates need YOUR support to win in tough, game-changing races around the country.

Israel Goes on the Offensive Against Iran's Proxies

In the last couple of weeks, Israel has executed ingenious and complex operations that have decapitated Hezbollah in Lebanon through the use of exploding beepers and walkie talkies and then the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. People all over the Middle East celebrated the elimination of Nasrallah, who had the blood of countless Americans, Israelis, Lebanese, and Iraqis on his hands.

Israel has also targeted strategic Houthi resources in Yemen. These actions come after the war in Gaza has significantly degraded Hamas's capabilities.

Israel's actions have profound significance not only for the survival and safety of the Jewish state, but for the US and the West as well. Gerald Baker wrote in the Wall Street Journal:

What the Jewish state has done in the past year—for its own defense, but in the process and not coincidentally for the security of all of us—will rank among the most important contributions to the defense of Western civilization in the past three-quarters of a century.

Jared Kushner, former senior advisor to the President Trump, had this to say about Israel's successful elimination of Nasrallah:

September 27th is the most important day in the Middle East since the Abraham Accords breakthrough.

I have spent countless hours studying Hezbollah and there is not an expert on earth who thought that what Israel has done to decapitate and degrade them was possible.

...I have been hearing some amazing stories about how Israel has been collecting intelligence over the past 10 months with some brilliant technology and crowdsourcing initiatives.

But today, with the confirmed killing of Nasrallah and at least 16 top commanders eliminated in just nine days, was the first day I started thinking about a Middle East without Iran’s fully loaded arsenal aimed at Israel. So many more positive outcomes are possible.

...The right move now for America would be to tell Israel to finish the job. It’s long overdue. And it’s not only Israel’s fight.

We are so proud of our brothers and sisters in Israel and we support them in the fight against terrorism. Am Yisrael Chai!

Reflections on the New Year

As we enter the High Holiday season, it is appropriate to take a moment to reflect. Last year was a dark, difficult year, made lighter by the inspiring strength and unity of the Jewish people.

We have seen undeniable miracles as well - including the fact that Iran fired180 ballistic missiles into Israel yesterday and did not kill a single Israeli.

Our prayers go out for Israel's victory, for safety for Jewish people everywhere, and for peace. L'shana tova tikatevu v'tichatemu - may you be written and sealed in the Book of Life for a good year!

Short Takes

Cedarhurst native plays offense in Braves' land

[RJC Leader] Dr. Barry Zisholtz was a urological surgeon, not a politician. But when the Cedarhurst native found himself in a Georgia district whose state representative was silent on Hamas terror and the concurrent wave of antisemitism, he recalled Hillel’s urging in Pirkei Avot, "In a place where there are no men, strive to be a man."

That’s how "Dr. Z" finds himself running as a long shot candidate for the Georgia House, a sold-red Orthodox Jewish Republican in the bluest of districts where most people are Black or immigrants. And it’s Atlanta Braves country to boot!

Hamas commander killed in Israeli strike led U.N. refugee agency teachers’ union

National Review reports: "A Hamas commander in Lebanon who was killed in an Israeli airstrike overnight was an accredited member of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, the embattled agency confirmed after his death.

"Hamas’s Fateh Sherif and his family were killed in an airstrike at a Palestinian refugee camp in the southern city of Tyre, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Monday. 'Sherif was responsible for coordinating Hamas’ terror activities in Lebanon with Hezbollah operatives, as well as Hamas’ efforts in Lebanon to recruit operatives and acquire weapons.'"

And yet: Democratic House lawmakers maintain support for restoring UNRWA funding despite new Hamas revelations.

Israel bars U.N. chief from setting foot in country over anti-Israel bias

Israel declared United Nations secretary-general António Guterres persona non grata on Wednesday, barring him from stepping foot in the country because of the deep-seated anti-Israel bias he displayed after Iran attacked the Jewish state.

Guterres responded to the Iranian barrage of 181 ballistic missiles on Tuesday by vaguely condemning the “broadening of the Middle East conflict” without mentioning Iran by name.

...The U.N. chief has repeatedly called for a cease-fire amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. Critical of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, Guterres has not denounced Hamas’s massacre of Israeli citizens on October 7 last year.
