One Big Beautiful Bill Passes

By a vote of 218-214, the US House finished the difficult process of passing the reconciliation bill that President Donald Trump called the "One, Big, Beautiful Bill" that will move his agenda into action.

The RJC celebrated the bill's passage with this statement:

The Republican Jewish Coalition congratulates President Donald J. Trump, Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Majority Leader John Thune, and all of the House and Senate Republicans who voted to pass the One Big Beautiful Bill.

This historic piece of legislation delivers on core conservative priorities and provides real help for Americans across the country – protecting our national security, promoting economic growth, and expanding educational freedom for families with K-12 children.

The RJC applauds conservative leadership in both Congress and the White House for seeing this foundational legislation through a challenging process. By championing school choice, securing our borders, promoting energy dominance, protecting our national security, and advancing economic growth, this legislation makes good on President Trump's promises to restore American greatness.

The bill includes important language on school choice, which the RJC has strongly supported. That provision in the bill gives a dollar for dollar federal tax credit for donations to scholarship granting organizations (SGOs), up to $1700 per donor per year. States must opt in annually and determine which SGOs in their state are eligible to distribute scholarships.

While narrower in scope than the original language of the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA), it still provides a mechanism to raise and distribute billions of dollars in charitable donations to fund scholarships for children in non-public schools.

When the reconciliation bill passed in the Senate, the RJC noted that with this provision: "Instead of the one-size-fits-all educational system that has remained largely unchanged for over a century, a diverse marketplace of schooling models tailored to families' needs will flourish."

Haaretz: US Jews Turned Out for Trump in 2024 in Unprecedented Numbers, PewSurvey Finds (paywall)

The Pew Research Center issued a comprehensive report showcasing President Donald J. Trump's historic success with Jewish voters in the 2024 election. The Jewish community was a significant part of his decisive winning coalition.

The findings from Pew, widely considered among the gold standards of polling centers, come amid a months-long battle between Democratic and Republican Jewish groups that have attempted to promote data affirming their respective arguments.

… According to Pew's findings, however, the 2024 election marked a historic shift toward the Republican candidate, with 35 percent of Jewish voters backing Trump compared to 63 percent for Democratic nominee Kamala Harris.

According to Republican Jewish Coalition CEO Matt Brooks, the 15-point swing "confirms yet again what the RJC has been consistently saying: cycle after cycle, more and more Jewish Americans are moving to the GOP – and 2024 was no different."

Brooks noted the 2024 total for Trump was "the highest percentage for a Republican for president since the 1980s and a historic hemorrhaging of support from the Democrats," adding that "31 percent of Jewish voters identified as Republicans in the Pew survey, which is the highest percentage on record."

Washington Reporter: White House's "Dream Team" assures Jewish Americans that Trump hastheir back

The Trump administration invited a group of Jewish Americans to hear from its top staffers who are working to combat the rise in antisemitism that is happening across America.

... "Jewish Americans can rest assured that they have the Dream Team working to fight and eliminate antisemitism in our country," the Republican Jewish Coalition's (RJC) Sam Markstein told the Washington Reporter. "From President Trump on down, including Attorney General Pam Bondi, Harmeet Dhillon, Leo Terrell, and more, this administration is working every single day, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Jewish Americans, to defeat the scourge of the world's oldest hatred."

Jewish Insider: New Trump-aligned super PAC begins $1M ad blitz against GOP Rep. Thomas Massie

A new super PAC launched by aides to President Donald Trump aimed at unseating Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) placed its first ads in a $1 million blitz in Kentucky targeting the isolationist lawmaker for his refusal to support key parts of the president's agenda, Jewish Insider has learned.

... Massie is among the most outspoken Republican critics of the US-Israel relationship in the House, and consistently opposes US aid to Israel and nearly all measures to combat antisemitism.

He's also been repeatedly condemned by colleagues on both sides of the aisle and Jewish leaders in his home state for antisemitism, often over comments about AIPAC and other pro-Israel advocates.

... The Republican Jewish Coalition said earlier this year it would join Trump in backing a primary challenger to Massie. "The RJC is proud to join with President Trump to defeat Massie," the group's spokesperson, Sam Markstein, said Thursday, when asked about the new PAC... The RJC pledged it would spend an "unlimited" budget to oppose a potential Massie Senate run.

After the Israeli and US Strikes on Iran

Analysts examine the effects of the Israeli and American strikes on Iran and its nuclear weapons program:

JNS - Pentagon: US strikes set back Iran's nuclear program by 1–2 years

The US military's airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities have delayed the Islamic Republic's nuclear program by up to two years, according to a new Pentagon assessment.

…"Our assessment of the battle damage around Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan remains unchanged—we believe, and certainly all the intelligence we've seen leads us to believe, that Iran's facilities, especially those, have been completely obliterated," said [Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean] Parnell.

He emphasized that the attack not only destroyed uranium enrichment equipment but also "the components they would need to build a bomb." Parnell added, "We believe that sending bombers from Missouri on a 37-hour mission, with not a single shot fired at them, dealt a very strong psychological blow to Iranian leadership."

Yoram Ettinger – Israel's offensive on Iran upgrades US economy and defense

Israel's 12-day-offensive has enhanced Israel's and the US' posture of deterrence in the face of anti-US Shiite and Sunni terrorism... Israel's offensive has weakened Iran, decreasing the lethal threat to all pro-US Arab regimes, such as Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Jordan, Egypt and Morrocco, all of which have had the machetes of the Ayatollahs and the Moslem Brotherhood at their throats. Moreover, undermining the strategic posture of the Ayatollah regime has reduced the incentive of some of the Latin American governments (the US' soft underbelly) collaborate with Iran against the US.

The bottom line: The June 2025 Israeli Air Force offensive has highlighted the reality of the annual $3.8bn extended to Israel (to purchase US military systems!), which does NOT constitute "foreign aid." Rather, this is an annual US investment in an immensely grateful Israel, yielding to the US a few hundred percent annual Return-on-Investment (R-o-I). Furthermore, this is the most productive and secure US investment in Israel, which is a unique force and dollar multiplier for the US, underlying the mutually beneficial US-Israel two-way-street.

Emanuele Ottolenghi - Twelve days of war: what did Israel achieve?

Israel's accomplishments, even factoring in US help, are remarkable and have caught the attention of every military in the world. The display of might, precision, and ingenuity that American and Israel-made weapons showed stands in stark contrast with the weapons systems that should have defended Iran's most prized sites: all made in Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran. All wiped out by Israeli made or American made and Israeli operated weapons system. The operation's impact is reverberating well beyond the region.

Most importantly, perhaps, the operation broke two taboos. Israel could attack Iran's nuclear programme with impunity and succeed. And America joined in, showing the world what its bunker buster precision weapons could deliver. The path to Iran remains open for now, and if its leaders were to seek to reconstitute their nuclear programme, America and Israel will likely strike again.

Jerusalem Post: Mamdani sponsors bill that would ban Jewish nonprofits from raising money for ZAKA,Hatzalah

New York City mayoral primary winner Zohran Mamdani sponsored a bill that would force any New York synagogue or Jewish corporation that gives money to ZAKA, United Hatzalah, or the One Israel Fund to pay a fine of at least $1 million or risk a lawsuit.

The bill, "Not on our dime!: Ending New York funding of Israeli settler violence act," was introduced in the New York State Assembly by Mamdani in May 2023 with the aim of prohibiting New York not-for-profit corporations from engaging in unauthorized support of Israeli settlement activity…If the bill were to pass, nonprofit corporations, such as synagogues, would be prohibited from raising money for any organization or individual within the "Occupied territory."

Algemeiner: Haaretz claim that IDF was ordered to fire on unarmed Gazans refuted

A recent Haaretz exposé accusing the Israeli military of ordering troops to fire at unarmed civilians near food aid sites in Gaza relied on mistranslation, selective quotes, factual omissions, and contradictions to construct a narrative of unprovoked Israeli violence, according to independent observers interviewed by The Algemeiner.

Debunking the claim of indiscriminate fire by the IDF, the experts instead described widespread fear of Hamas, not the Israeli military.

Most Jews Approve of Trump’s Job Performance, Strike on Iran

A new Siena Research poll finds that a majority of Jewish voters in New York approve of President Donald Trump’s job performance and his handling of the Israel-Iran war.

The survey found that a majority of Jewish respondents, 57 percent, approve of the job Trump is doing in his second term as president, compared to 42 percent who disapprove.

Even more striking, 64 percent of Jewish voters say they approve of Trump’s handling of the Israel-Iran conflict, signaling strong alignment with his foreign policy stance in a community that has historically leaned Democratic in national elections.
