Coleman and Brooks: President Trump Gives Jews Everywhere Much to Be Thankful For on Passover

In an op-ed for the Washington Reporter, RJC National Chairman Senator Norm Coleman and RJC CEO Matt Brooks wrote:

As we approach Passover, President Donald J. Trump is continuing to lead Operation Epic Fury with unparalleled strength and determination to defeat the murderous Iranian terror regime.

The Haggadah teaches us that in every generation, threats rise against us, and today, the message and resonance of the Dayenu prayer carries even greater significance.

As we gather to retell the story of deliverance from ancient Egyptian tyranny, Jews around the world know that the United States has a president in Donald Trump who does not cower in the face of modern-day Hamans and Pharaohs, but instead has the guts and courage to stand against evil — and act — to ensure our freedoms and the American way of life are secured for generations to come.

Had President Trump only torn up the disastrous Obama-Biden Iran nuclear deal, which would have led to a nuclear-armed Iran…Dayenu.

Republican Voters Embrace Trump on Israel and Iran, Reject Tucker Carlson

Josh Kraushaar at Jewish Insider reports:

Republican voters expressed strong support for President Donald Trump's military action against Iran, and would decidedly prefer a GOP congressional candidate who advocates for the war's aims, according to a new survey from pollster J.L. Partners.

The poll, which surveyed 1,018 likely GOP voters between March 17-18, finds that an overwhelming share of Republicans (83%) support Trump's war against Iran, with just 9% opposing. Nearly two-thirds (63%) of Republicans said they "strongly support" Trump''s war efforts.

Among self-identified MAGA-aligned Republicans, a whopping 92% of respondents support the war in Iran, with 76% strongly supporting it.

… The poll also found a sizable share of Republicans holds negative views towards far-right, antisemitic podcaster Tucker Carlson

When GOP voters were asked whether they'd prefer a candidate endorsed by Trump or by Carlson and Megyn Kelly, a whopping 80% preferred a Trump-backed candidate, with just 7% siding with the podcasters.

Asked whether voters trust Trump's position on Iran or Carlson and Kelly's view, 83% sided with Trump while just 6% sided with the far-right podcasters.

RJC in the News

NY Times: Thomas Massie Thinks Being Hated by Trump Is 'Worth It.' Will Voters Agree?

A die-hard libertarian with a puckish sensibility and a yen for the minutia of congressional procedure, [Thomas] Massie has frequently upset the apple cart of Washington…

This time is different. Outside groups, led by the Republican Jewish Coalition and three GOP megadonors, have already dumped more than $5 million into the race to oust him. This month, [Pres. Donald] Trump flew to Mr. Massie's district and delivered a roughly eight-minute screed against the congressman before backslapping the former Navy SEAL the president's team selected to challenge him.

WSJ: Chabad Donor: 'This Is for Tucker'

[Tucker Carlson] bizarrely blamed the world's problems on Chabad, a global Jewish outreach movement that welcomes everyone, Jewish or not, for meals, holiday celebrations and Torah study. Chabad rabbis believe every person possesses a divine spark worth nurturing.

… Mr. Carlson's false allegations drew condemnation. Chabad spokesman Yaacov Behrman called them "a slanderous lie" and "a dangerous blood libel." The Republican Jewish Coalition said, "President Trump and his administration reject this nonsense." Journalist Joel Mowbray said it might be Mr. Carlson's "most absurd claim to date."

The Iran War Successes You Don't Hear About

Noah Rothman writes at National Review that the media's negative spin on the US-Israeli war against Iran is truly divorced from the reality of what has been accomplished so far.

The positive results include decapitating Iran's senior leadership, from political and military leaders to Islamic Revolutionary guard Corps and Basij commanders. Iran's command-and-control has been destroyed. Iran's air force and navy are gone. Their terrorist proxies are in shambles. Iran's nuclear, ballistic missile, and drone infrastructure are degraded.

This war has also changed the landscape of the region, and the world, in meaningful ways. The Gulf states are moving closer to the US and Israel. China and Russia have not acted on their strategic pact with Iran; moreover, the military supplies that they gave Iran have been completely outclassed by American and Israeli armaments.

Rothman concludes:

The fall of the Islamic Republic would be an epochal development. The United States and Israel are methodically paving the way for such an event. If they succeed, a better world awaits all of us… But even if the regime does not collapse, its offensive capabilities have been degraded and its value to the anti-American axis is far more limited than it was on February 27.

Whichever way you look at it, the US and Israel are advancing their interests and strengthening international security.

Iran Has Been at War with the US Since 1979

Israeli Ambassador (ret.) Yoram Ettinger lays out the history of Iran's war on the US. This conflict didn't start yesterday; it started 47 years ago:

Unrelated to Israel, the Ayatollah regime has been preoccupied, since the February 1, 1979 Islamic Revolution, with anti-US terrorism on US soil and abroad. For example:

  • The November 1979 takeover of the US Embassy in Tehran, and holding 50 Americans hostage for 444 days.

  • The April and October 1983 Ayatollah-Hezbollah-Islamic Jihad involvement in the two car/truck bombs that destroyed the US Embassy and Marines barracks in Beirut, murdering 260 Americans.

  • The March 1984 kidnapping and murder of the CIA Beirut Station Chief, William Buckley, by Iran-backed Islamic Jihad terrorists.

  • The September 1984 Iran-backed Hezbollah car bomb attack at an annex of the US Embassy in Beirut, murdering 23 people, including 2 US servicemen.

  • The December 1984 Iran-controlled Hezbollah terrorists hijacking of Kuwait Airways Flight 221 on its way from Kuwait to Pakistan, diverting it to Tehran, murdering 2 US officials from the Agency for International Development (AID).

  • The June 1985 Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorists hijacking of TWA Flight 847 on its way from Athens to Rome, murdering a US Navy diver.

  • The July 1989 Hezbollah murdering of US Marine Corps Col. William Higgins, who served on a UN peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon.

  • The June 1996 Iran-controlled Hezbollah al Hijaz truck bomb blowing up the Saudi Khobar Towers residence, murdering 19 US Air Force servicemen.

The list goes on. Read it all here.

Lake: Israel Is Unpopular. And It's Never Had More Friends

Israel's public image is in the toilet… In terms of soft power, Jerusalem is being pummeled by podcasts, protests, and social media. But that is only part of the picture. When it comes to hard power, the stuff of arms sales, diplomacy, and air space, Israel is on a generational run.

…Israel still has a steep hill to climb when it comes to its public image in America and Europe. But very few people have noticed that as Israel has lost the public relations war in the West, it has been winning a real war in the Middle East. And the countries that used to yell loudest about Israel's perfidy are quietly cheering on its air force as it helps to dominate the skies and pulverize the regime in Iran.

Bar Tur: It's the End of the World, LOL

For as long as I can remember, Israelis and Jews have been under attack — and somehow, laughing throughout. To an outsider, this may seem disrespectful, but for us, sharing these laughs is more than a gallows-humor defense mechanism; it's almost a national duty. The uncontrollable laughter that interrupts your chest from racing in fear is an essential reminder that we have much to live for, and the desire to share a funny moment with your entire contact list in the midst of terror is a welcome break from the present and an invitation to hope for a better future.

… This nationwide cope offers a view into the unique situation when an entire population, with all its political, religious, and ideological fractures, is going through the exact same thing at the exact same time. An Iranian warhead doesn't care if you are an Arab or a Jew, and Hezbollah has yet to develop the technology to target citizens based on voting patterns. That inside joke you have with your friends? Its range has just been expanded to the entire country. Shared humor brings us closer together in a time of crisis, and pointing out the absurdity of it all is an important reminder that perhaps it won't always be our day-to-day reality.
