US-Israeli Partnership Takes Out Iran Nuclear Program
|
|
Israel's Operation Rising Lion had two goals: to eliminate the threat of Iran's nuclear weapons program and to end the ballistic missile threat from Iran. Starting on June 13, Israel successfully took out nuclear facilities, killed IRGC leaders and top scientists in the nuclear program, and destroyed missile launchers. After Israel's brilliant and overwhelming military success, one problem remained: destroying key Iranian nuclear sites located deep underground.
Last Saturday night, President Donald Trump provided the solution to that problem, sending American bombers to drop "bunker buster" bombs on three key Iranian facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. America’s Operation Midnight Hammer, marked by total operational security, deception of the enemy, stealth, precision, and incredible coordination across multiple US military branches and theaters, was a complete success.
With the nuclear threat destroyed, President Trump then arranged a ceasefire that ended the hostilities between Iran and Israel. For the first time in almost two weeks, Israelis can return to their normal lives without fearing that a siren will soon alert them to seek shelter.
As JNS reports, the RJC applauded President Trump for "taking historic, decisive action to prevent the terrorist regime in Iran from having a nuclear weapon":

Today’s successful, targeted military action proves once again that nobody has been tougher on Tehran, or a better friend to Israel, than President Trump. Tonight will go down in the history books as one of the most consequential orders ever given by a US president. Godspeed to our heroic war fighters.
The world is a far safer place thanks to President Trump.

Pompeo: Trump's Iran strikes show world what 'America First' foreign policy looks like
|
|
The world changed for the better on Saturday night thanks to America’s devastating strikes on key Iranian nuclear facilities – a mission so effective that it impelled Iran to sue for peace with Israel within two days. Americans owe a debt of gratitude to the brave servicemen who carried out this operation, and to President Donald Trump for taking this momentous and necessary decision.

Tobin: Would anyone but Trump have done it?
|
|
At this point, it’s appropriate to ponder whether any other recent American president or likely commander-in-chief would have done as [Trump has done by attacking Iran's nuclear facilities]. If the answer is "no," then it’s fair to say that Donald Trump has proven to be not only a political and presidential outlier in many respects, but an essential figure in modern world and Jewish history.

Washington Free Beacon Editors: Trump delivers victory in 12-Day war
|
|
It is true that the American right contains a faction of isolationists and, among those isolationists, a faction of genuine anti-Semites. Trump may take their calls, but he showed where his heart lies with a half-million pounds of American-made high explosives.
…And while we are in awe of the Israeli planning, courage, and fortitude that made it possible, American Jews should thank the American president who delivered the coup de grâce, who made it possible with his steadfast support and the ability of American military power to coerce, to deter, and to destroy.
We’ll start. President Trump, we thank you for your attention to this matter!

When President Trump announced that US B-2 bombers carrying the 30,000-pound MOP (Massive Ordnance Penetrator) "bunker buster" bomb were being used, I felt certain that had I been in the White House Situation Room and asked him why, he would have said again, "Because I said I would, and it’s the RIGHT thing to do!"
Promise Made. Promise Kept.

Mamdani's NYC Primary Win Alarms Jewish Voters
|
|
Matthew Kassel at Jewish Insider reports that Democrats are worried about the results of the New York City Democratic primary election this week. Zohran Mamdani, a far-left, anti-Israel, antisemitic radical came first in the ranked choice vote on Tuesday. Kassel writes:
|
|
Even if Mamdani does not win, Jewish Democrats uncomfortable with his strident criticism of Israel and alleged insensitivity to rising antisemitism fear that his surging campaign could end up alienating Jewish voters who have long called the party home.
…While support for Israel had once been viewed as a prerequisite for any winning campaign in New York City, Mamdani’s bid has tested that proposition. He has suggested he is uninterested in visiting Israel if elected, breaking with long-standing precedent, and has declined to acknowledge Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.
The two-term state lawmaker, who has endorsed boycotts targeting Israel, has said he would divest from Israel as mayor and promised to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for alleged war crimes if he were to enter the city. Perhaps most controversially, Mamdani has drawn scrutiny for defending calls to "globalize the intifada"— a slogan that critics interpret as stoking violence against Jews.
…Hank Sheinkopf, a veteran Democratic strategist, predicted a Mamdani victory could end up pushing "more Jews nationally into the Republican column" and said Orthodox Jews might choose to relocate to South Florida and New Jersey. "Whether he wins or loses," Sheinkopf said, the contours of the race have sent a concerning message that he characterized as "Jews don’t matter."

|
Mamdani beat former NY governor Andrew Cuomo, who may run as an independent on the general election ballot in November. Current mayor Eric Adams will also be on the ballot as an independent, in addition to Curtis Sliwa, the Republican nominee, and others.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) finds himself in an awkward bind: The self-dubbed "Shomer Yisrael" — "guardian of the people of Israel" — is now the "Shomer of the Democratic Party" — guardian of a caucus that has drifted increasingly leftward, especially when it comes to its support for Israel and aggressive action to deter Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
… [W]hen Trump made the decision to bomb Iran’s nuclear sites last weekend, Schumer … joined the majority of congressional Democrats, who blasted the administration for not seeking congressional authorization.
…Former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan wrote on X, "When President Trump strikes Iran’s nuclear sites to stop a regime openly calling for Israel’s destruction (and responsible for the [murder] of many many Americans), Schumer’s only reaction is… complaining about congressional procedure? Seriously, Chuck? Don’t you have anything positive to say about removing an existential threat from Israel and the free world?"

Tratt: What Jewish Americans can learn from Israel’s war with Iran RJC Board of Directors member Irit Tratt writes: "For their part, Jewish Americans would be wise to learn from Israel’s muscular response toward Iran and reflect on how, in a remarkable display of Jewish grit and resolve, Israel’s isolation in the global arena is diminishing as allies like the US affirm their support and adversaries must reckon with a proud and effective people who are committed to protecting their country… For Jewish liberals who for years have put their faith in the wrong people and policies, it’s time to recast priorities away from universal values and take a page out of the Israeli playbook on what it means to be a strong Jew."

Groisman: New York primary shows that fringe has become mainstream
RJC Board of Directors member Gabe Groisman writes: "Democratic voters in New York City gave a 33-year-old democratic socialist, Zohran Mamdani, a resounding primary victory… Mamdani represents the absolute worst of the worst in American politics, and this primary election should be a wake-up call to all Americans. The chaos we’ve seen on college campuses and in city streets over the past several years has now reached the highest level of local politics."
..."Mamdani, a Muslim born in Uganda, is backed by the Council on American-Islamic Relations. He is being endorsed by Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT); former New York Rep. Jamaal Bowman; and the Democratic Socialists of America. He has refused to condemn chants to 'globalize the intifada' and does not recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.
"Listening to Mamdani speak should send chills down people’s spines. His platform reads like a socialist manifesto: government-run grocery stores, free public transportation, rent freezes, taxpayer-funded childcare, a $30 minimum wage, dismantling federal immigration enforcement, publicly funded legal defense for illegal immigrants and expanded gender-affirming care for 'youth.' It doesn’t get more extreme than this… It’s up to all Americans, Democrats and Republicans alike, Jew and non-Jew, to reject socialism and the extreme and anti-American values Mamdani represents."

Supreme Court rules unanimously to allow terror victims to sue Palestinian Authority, PLO
The Supreme Court ruled unanimously in favor of the victims of Palestinian terrorist groups on Friday in a case regarding the constitutionality of a US law allowing lawsuits against the Palestinian Authority and Palestine Liberation Organization in American courts over payments to terrorists and their families through the "pay-for-slay" program.
The Supreme Court victory in Fuld v. Palestine Liberation Organization is a hard-fought win for the families, and comes following a decades-long series of efforts by American terror victims and their families to sue the Palestinian groups.
…The case was named for Ari Fuld, who in 2018 was stabbed to death by a Palestinian terrorist whose family subsequently received payments from the PA. Fuld’s wife was one of several family members of terror victims who were party to the suit.
Editor's note: As we mentioned when it was announced that the Supreme Court would hear this case, Ari Fuld was a hero who chased and shot his attacker, preventing the terrorist from killing others, before succumbing to his injuries. The Republican Jewish Coalition honored Ari at the 2022 RJC Leadership Summit in Las Vegas and presented the "Defender of Israel" award to his wife Miriam, in Ari's memory. Update: Ari's killer was among a group of terrorists released by Israel in February of 2025 in exchange for hostages held by Hamas in Gaza. He was deported and permanently banned from re-entering Israeli territories, according to news reports at the time.

Thiessen: MAGA voters back Trump on Iran and reject isolationism
As President Donald Trump was making his final decision to launch a US strike on Iran’s nuclear program, Washington has been abuzz over suggestions that his MAGA movement is "splintering" over his determination to stop Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
Sorry, but that is fake news.
… A new poll from the Ronald Reagan Institute, taken just before the US and Israel launched military strikes on Iran, shows that 90 percent of self-identified MAGA Republicans say that "preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon is important to US security" — including 74 percent who say doing so matters "a great deal." Only 8 percent disagreed.
In other words, there is no MAGA schism over Trump’s attack on Iran. To the contrary, there is deep-seated MAGA unity behind Trump and Israel. What we are seeing is not an uproar from Trump’s base, but the whining of a loud but tiny cabal of right-wing isolationists — epitomized by the likes of "kooky" Tucker Carlson, as the president has characterized him, and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) — who tried to hijack MAGA to push their own Fortress America agenda. They are completely out of step with Trump and the larger MAGA movement. With Trump’s decision to strike Iran, over their vocal objections, they are quickly finding out, to their shock and surprise, that Trump is not an isolationist — and neither are his supporters.
