RJC Endorses, Praises Sen. John Cornyn
|
|
The Houston Chronicle reports on Senator John Cornyn, who has been endorsed by the Republican Jewish Coalition in his reelection race against primary challenger Ken Paxon.
|
|
Republican Jewish Coalition National Chairman Norm Coleman and CEO Matt Brooks, in a joint statement, praised Cornyn for recently introducing the bipartisan Holocaust Expropriated Art Recovery Act, which extends and strengthens existing procedural protections for Holocaust survivors.
"Sen. Cornyn is a true friend of the Jewish community in Texas and across the country," Coleman and Brooks said in a joint statement. "Cornyn has dedicated his career to public service, beginning as a district judge, then as a Texas Supreme Court Justice, and later serving as Texas Attorney General. In 2002, Texans elected him to the United States Senate, where he has fought to uphold the principles of limited government, personal freedom, and economic opportunity. With deep roots in Texas and a proven record of fighting for the Lone Star State, John Cornyn always puts Texans first."

Seb Gorka Slams Tucker Carlson as 'Pat Buchanan in a New Guise'
|
|
The Jewish Insider reports:
|
|
Seb Gorka, the White House senior director for counterterrorism and a deputy assistant to the president, aired his grievances with the anti-Israel faction within the Republican Party on Tuesday, alleging that the wing of the GOP aligned with podcast host Tucker Carlson is "basically Pat Buchanan in a new guise."
… Asked by moderator Michael Doran, a Hudson senior fellow and director of the Center for Peace and Security in the Middle East, if he was comfortable addressing the growth of anti-Israel, antisemitic sentiment on right-wing podcasts and social media, Gorka replied, "Yeah, I am, because it bothers me immensely, but I’ve come to a certain realization with regards to that, that this wing of isolationism is nothing new. We had this 100 years ago."
"This is just a poor, substandard repackaging of neo-Buchananite isolationism," Gorka said, referencing Buchanan, the former Nixon communications director who became an outspoken critic of Israel. "It’s actually a more shallow version. Pat is far smarter than this version of isolationism."
Gorka said [of] … the onslaught of anti-Israel rhetoric from [Tucker] Carlson’s wing of the party … he realized that most of the rhetoric was coming from “probably half a dozen very loud people on Twitter and Rumble,” the right-wing video platform.
[Gorka said:] "You get out of the miasma, the cesspit that is social media, and you talk to representative MAGA voters, of the 80 million that put the president back in the White House, they don’t think … that Israel is the reason for Oct. 7.
…He argued that the "moral clarity" shown by [President Donald] Trump on issues impacting Israel highlighted the contrast between the president and his detractors on foreign policy matters.

Jewish Democrats Labor to Maintain Party’s Support for Israel
David M. Drucker, writing at The Dispatch, details the Jewish Democratic Council of America’s failing efforts to keep Jewish voters in the Democratic fold.
|
|
…But Sam Markstein, a spokesman for the Republican Jewish Coalition, the counterpart to the JDCA and, as The Dispatch reported in July, a group that has come to occupy rarified air inside the GOP, said it was "laughable" that [JDCA pollster Jim] Gerstein puts more stock in his numbers than Pew and others…
"Every reputable outlet that clearly showed a dramatic increase in Jewish support for President Trump and Republicans in 2024," Markstein said. "Instead of whistling past the political graveyard, JDCA should focus on repairing the damage being done by the Democrats to the US-Israel relationship."

RJC is Celebrating 40 Years!
|
|
From our start in 1985 to today, the RJC has been a unique, outspoken, and trusted voice for Jewish Republicans, bringing our message to Republican decision makers and the broader Jewish community.
We support a strong America, and that includes a strong US-Israel alliance. We don't hesitate to call out antisemitism, no matter which side of the political aisle it comes from. Republicans who support American security and prosperity, and who are friends of Israel and our community, know the RJC has their backs - in the policy fights in Washington and in their election battles.
All of this is possible only through the dedication and support of our members and leaders.
Thank you!

Jerusalem Post: Prices plummet in Gaza as aid influx transforms markets
New internal data from the Israeli security establishment shows a sharp decline in the prices of basic goods in Gaza following the massive influx of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip in recent weeks.
According to the data, which was presented to decision-makers, prices of essential products in Gaza’s markets have dropped by dozens of percentage points.
Officials say the price cuts reflect the impact of continuous aid convoys, which have flooded the Strip with flour, rice, sugar, and other staples.
… Although the data originates from the security establishment, it is also corroborated by international organizations and aid groups operating in the area.

The Free Press: They became symbols for Gazan starvation. But all 12 suffer from other health problems.
An investigation by The Free Press reveals that at least a dozen other viral images of starvation in Gaza also lacked important context: The subjects of those photos have significant health problems. Those appeared all over social media, in the reports of leading international aid organizations, and on some of the most prestigious news outlets in the United States, including CNN, NPR, and the Times—without disclosing the complicated medical histories that help explain their stark appearances.
… The children in all of the images reviewed by The Free Press were either sick or facing death at the time their images circulated online, according to local reports in Arabic. Their situations were dire. But in every instance, they were already facing grave situations because of their health, irrespective of any third-party action.

NY Post: State Department revokes over 6K student visas, including hundreds for 'support for terrorism'
The US State Department has revoked thousands of student visas — most of them for overstays and various law violations ranging from DUIs and assaults to supporting terrorist organizations, including Hamas.
The visas were pulled amid President [Donald] Trump’s ongoing crackdown on illegal immigrants and foreign-born college students, particularly those who have expressed support for terror groups.
… Troublingly, approximately 200 to 300 of the visas were revoked for "support for terrorism" — the department said… The department did not elaborate on how specifically those whose visas were being revoked were supporting terrorism; however, the official reportedly said they had engaged in behaviors such as "raising funds for the militant group Hamas."
