Bernard Marcus

Mr. Marcus is one of the founders of The Home Depot Inc., North America’s largest home improvement retailer.

Mr. Marcus is active in many civic and charitable concerns. In 1991, he and with his wife, Billi, established the Marcus Institute in Atlanta, an affiliate of Emory University, which provides programs for children and adolescents with disorders of the brain, and their families. An 1998 the Marcus Institute joined forces with the Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore. The Kennedy Krieger Marcus National Foundation was created to further enhance the lives of this special population through national advocacy, professional training, and research. Mr. Marcus is the Chairman of the National Foundation.

He also is serves on the Board of Directors of The city of Hope, a cancer research center in California, and The Shepherd Center, which treats people with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and multiple sclerosis. He is a member of the Board of Governors for the American Jewish community and the Board of Trustees of the Atlanta Jewish Federation.
