RJC Applauds House Republican Leadership on Aid to Key Allies, Urges Swift Passage
Washington, DC – The Republican Jewish Coalition released the following statement in response to Speaker Johnson and House Republicans releasing the text of bills to provide emergency aid to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.
RJC National Chairman Senator Norm Coleman and CEO Matt Brooks said:
The RJC applauds House Republicans for moving forward on urgently-needed legislation to aid key American allies facing existential threats: Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.
We are particularly appreciative of Speaker Mike Johnson. Without his perseverance and determination, this legislation - which includes a historic amount of aid for the Jewish state - would not have been possible. House Republicans should recognize and affirm that the Speaker has shown leadership worth sticking with.
During these dangerous days for America and our essential security partners around the world, it is more important than ever to stand with our friends against the destabilizing aggression of Iran, Russia, and China.
In the aftermath of the October 7th Hamas massacre and Iran’s direct attack against Israel’s homeland, these votes are an especially critical test of support for the US-Israel alliance.
We urge members of the House to swiftly move the bills forward by supporting adoption of the rule governing debate, rejecting amendments that would have the predictable effect of derailing the bill, and voting “Yes” on final passage.
The time to act is now.
