RJC Commends Fulfillment of the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995

Members of the RJC Board of Directors are in Israel this week on a solidarity mission. RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks released the following statement today:

It has been truly inspiring for us to be in Israel for Yom HaZikaron, Israel’s day to remember fallen soldiers and Israelis who were killed in terrorist attacks, and for Yom HaAtzmaut the following day, when Israel celebrates its independence.

The US and Israel have a strong friendship and alliance, built on shared values and shared interests. That alliance has grown stronger under the leadership of President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Today, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo verified to Congress that all the provisions of the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 have been fulfilled. After 23 years, the US Embassy and the chief of mission residence are now located in Israel’s eternal capital of Jerusalem.

We could not be prouder, as Jews and as Americans, to offer our best wishes to the State of Israel and its citizens today.
