RJC Congratulates Byron Donalds on Decisive Victory Over James Fishback in Florida Governor's Race
Washington, DC – The Republican Jewish Coalition released the following statement congratulating Rep. Byron Donalds on winning the Republican primary for Governor of Florida.
RJC CEO Matt Brooks said:
The RJC congratulates our longtime friend, Rep. Byron Donalds, on his decisive victory in the Republican primary for Governor of the Sunshine State.
Byron Donalds won this race the right way, as a strong, principled conservative and an unflinching ally of Florida’s Jewish community, against an opponent who ran one of the most openly bigoted campaigns in recent memory.
James Fishback spent this race trafficking in vile racism and antisemitic filth. He called Byron Donalds, who will be the first black Governor of Florida, a "slave." He mocked his race with the deliberate taunt "By'rone" and warned that Donalds would turn Florida into a "Section 8 ghetto." He told a Black man to his face, "You should be lynched." And he peddled antisemitic conspiracy tropes to his supporters while courting the endorsement and praise of white nationalist Nick Fuentes.
Antisemitism and racism have no place in the Republican Party. Tonight, the Republican voters of Florida proved it by resoundingly rejecting a candidate who campaigned on messages of hate and nominating instead a true leader of genuine character.
The contrast with today's Democratic Party could not be clearer. While Republicans in Florida once again defeated bigotry at the ballot box, the Democratic Party continues to appease the antisemitism surging in its ranks and elevate far-left radicals to high office. From New York to Maine to Michigan, Democrats are shamefully abandoning the American Jewish community to the extremist mob.
There is only ONE party taking on these fights and winning, and it is the Republican Party.
Byron Donalds is a rock-solid friend of the Jewish community, and we look forward to working with him in Tallahassee after he wins in November.
