RJC Statement on Killing of Qassem Soleimani
Washington, D.C. -- The Republican Jewish Coalition responded to the American operation that killed Qassem Soleimani, leader of Iran’s al-Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, head of the Al-Hashd Al-Sha'abi forces and the Kata'ib Hezbollah militia, in Iraq tonight.
RJC National Chairman Senator Norm Coleman said:
Soleimani was one of the highest-ranked, most important officials in Iran, the leader of the elite special forces within the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. He is personally responsible for uncountable deaths over more than a decade, including the deaths of over 600 US military personnel in Iraq. He has the blood of civilians in Syria and Yemen on his hands. He was key to the growth of Hezbollah and other terrorist groups. It is difficult to overstate the role he played in Iran's bloodiest operations around the region.
His death makes the world a safer place.
President Trump is fulfilling his promise to hold Iran accountable for the regime’s support of international terrorism, its brutal treatment of the people of Iran, and its violent aggression against other states in the region. Tonight's action against Soleimani and Muhandis brought justice to the families of their victims and sends a powerful message to Iran and other terrorist organizations.
