RJC Statement on the Retirement of Speaker Paul Ryan

Washington, D.C. -- RJC National Chairman Senator Norm Coleman and RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks released the following statements today.

RJC National Chairman Senator Norm Coleman said:

Speaker Paul Ryan is an American Patriot. In his twenty years of serving his constituents and the people of America, Paul Ryan has never been shy about his passion for public policy and public service. He has been steadfast in his support for Israel throughout his career and few have exemplified the inseparable bond between Israel and the United States more than Paul Ryan. America’s finest leaders are those who are rooted in the Constitutional principles and values of our Founding Fathers. Those principles and values are deeply ingrained in the DNA of Paul Ryan. Speaker Paul Ryan is a man of integrity who has always made his priorities clear and has never wavered in standing up and fighting for them. The Republican Jewish Coalition will miss his leadership in Congress but will always be grateful for his commitment to Israel and his service to America.

RJC Executive Director Matt Brooks said:

All Americans owe Speaker Ryan tremendous gratitude and appreciation for his service in the House and his leadership as Speaker. He has accomplished great things for the nation. Although a fringe candidate with abhorrent neo-Nazi views was already running against the Speaker, we are very confident that with the leadership of the Wisconsin GOP, the eventual Republican nominee to fill Paul Ryan’s House seat (WI-01) will be someone who upholds the GOP’s best values and traditions. And we look forward to seeing Paul Ryan pass the Speaker’s gavel to a fellow Republican in the 116th Congress to continue the great work of the GOP majority there.
